High Street Quilting was set up in 2013 and expanded into much bigger and brighter premises at 27 Harraton Terrace in 2018.

This unique shop is an oasis of calm and colour for fabric lovers of all types: patchworkers, quilters, textile artists, dressmakers and crafters, young and old.

Situated on the traditional High Street in Birtley, HSQ is accessible and approachable.

With the recent resurgence in sewing and crafting, the sewing school is bursting with regular classes, one-off workshops and sociable sewing groups. Sewing novices can be accommodated and guided to become confident and independent creators.

The High Street Quilting team consists of;

owner Hilary, who has many years of experience in dressmaking, patchwork and quilting and who is available for project ideas, fabric suggestions and support to bring your dreams to fruition.

Assistant Jayne, also an experienced quilter, on hand to offer colour guidance and advice.

Together Hilary and Jayne are supported by a group of expert tutors and teachers who give us their expert knowledge in the sewing school.

They are all passionate about fabric and sewing and enjoy being part of a vibrant, growing, sewing community.
